Fresh cumin aroma
Grown in our own greenhouse; purple Shiso leaves, purple perilla leaves, Japanese mint are some of the names used for this aromatic leaf. The smell is similar to mint but the taste is fresh and cumin.
A perfect combination with Japanese dishes, (raw) fish or mushrooms. Also delicious to fry in tempura batter.
What many people do not know is that purple shiso is also widely used to give a red color to dishes. For example, the Japanese umeboshi (plums) are colored with these leaves.
The leaves are about 8 to 12 cm long
