Origin & production
These red, dried edible maple leaves are a unique Japanese product and are exclusively developed by Maple Laboratory Inc. in Tajimi (多治見市), Gifu Prefecture, Japan. It is the world’s very first edible dried Japanese maple leaf. The leaves come from more than 2000 carefully planted maple trees, cultivated without pesticides and using organic compost. Thanks to an innovative processing technique, the leaves retain their vibrant color, elegant shape, and refined, delicate texture.
The Japanese maple (Momiji 紅葉) has been an aesthetic and cultural symbol of Japan for centuries. Poets and artists praised its red color and graceful shape, which represent the seasons; fresh green in summer and warm red and yellow tones in autumn. With these leaves, you bring a piece of Japanese nature and tradition directly to your dishes.
Usage
Just like edible flowers, these maple leaves give dishes a refined and festive appearance. They are ideal as decoration for desserts, cakes and pastries, or as colorful garnish for salads, appetizers and cocktails. You can combine them with edible flowers for an extra colorful effect. In addition, you can let the leaves steep in a sweet syrup, adding a subtle and unique flavor to drinks, glazes, and desserts. Some enthusiasts even brew tea from the leaves.
With their refined appearance and versatility, these dried edible Japanese maple leaves are a special way to elevate your creations to the next level.
Storage
